We have recently incorporated the Florida Probe System, a computerized periodontal probing and charting system, into our practice. The System’s constant-force, computerized probe allows measurements to be consistent between examiners. The probe’s precision is 0.2 mm., which also improves the accuracy of measurements and assists the doctors and hygienists in determining the correct diagnosis and follow-up for the patient. Our patients understand that we use it for detail and accuracy, and it is helping to educate them at the same time. The on-screen display and audio output is easy to relate to and easy to understand. It eliminates inaccuracies and it gives us detailed information from which to compare. This technology will be a tremendous aid in combating periodontal disease, the leading cause of adult tooth loss.

We have recently incorporated the latest technology in local anesthetic delivery into our practice, the Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA™) System from Milestone Scientific. It is the first computer-controlled local dental anesthetic system where just one injection at a single tooth is all that’s needed to scientifically, safely and predictably ensure single-session injection precision. The STA™ System was one of only two winners in the dental instruments category at the eleventh annual Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition in 2008. Early reviews from our patients have all been very positive.
