What Can I Expect if I Decide to Try Sleep Dentistry?

So you're willing to take the plunge and try a new kind of
dentistry. What's it going to be like?
On your very first visit the caring staff at Leff, Weiss &
Waldee, DDS will want to focus on getting to know you and
consulting with you about any concerns, fears, or problems.
You'll be given a full dental examination, and your Doctor
will work with you to create a treatment plan that best fits
your needs and budget. Your initial consultation visit usually
takes about an hour.
What can you expect the actual day of your dental procedure?
You'll be escorted into the treatment room, and some
monitors will be attached; you will be monitored constantly
for any changes in heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen blood
levels, and heart rhythm with an EKG monitor. Finally,
after you're comfortable an IV will be started to administer
the anesthesia medications.
What risks are involved with being put under? The doctors at
SleepDentists.com have been doing general anesthesia and
sedation in their office since 1973 with complete safety.
One of the more common side effects, although rare, is
inflammation at the site of the injection and IV.
Which dental procedures can you not be put under anesthesia
for? Nearly every dental procedure can be done with
anesthesia management; restorations (fillings & crowns),
cosmetic dentistry, endodontics (root canals), extractions,
periodontal surgery, oral surgery and dental implants. You
don't have to suffer!
How long will it take you to "come around" after a
procedure? Everyone reacts a little differently, as no two
individuals' body chemistry is exactly the same, however
most patients generally go home and go back to sleep in
their own bed. You will wake up feeling fine, and able to
return to your normal activities (yes, regrettably even work)
the very next day.
What are the benefits of having full-mouth rehabilitation
done under general anesthesia? Complex dental treatments
that often require multiple appointments can frequently be
done in as little as one or two appointments! All this while
you sleep. Dentistry utilizing anesthesia or sedation is a
safe way to reduce the fatigue of extended dental treatment
requiring long visits. Many patients spend half or even a
whole day having their dentistry completed with anesthesia.
Oft times more than one doctor or specialist is treating you
during the course of your full-mouth rehabilitation.
You will have little or no memory of the experience.
You won't remember any sounds or smells.
How expensive is dental anesthesia? Does dental insurance
cover anesthesia? Dental insurance doesn't usually cover the
cost of anesthesia, however, some insurance companies will
pay for anesthesia if it is used for oral surgery. If not,
SleepDentists.com has financing available for the
anesthesia, if approved.
The longer you wait, the worse and more painful your teeth
will get. There's no reason to lose your teeth because you
can't stand going to the dentist. There's a better way, a
new dental paradigm that says visiting the dentist doesn't
need to be a traumatic experience, for adults or children.
